UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist Exam 2025: Selection Process

Selection process for the UPSC combined Geo scientist recruitment includes three stages: the first one is preliminary examination, Main is secondary examination and third is personality test or interview.

  • Preliminary Examination (Objective Type): There are Two papers for prelims that select candidates for the Main Examination. Marks from this stage will contribute to the final merit.
  • Main Examination (Descriptive Type): Mains Examination includes Three papers that determine candidates for the Personality Test/Interview. Marks from this stage will also contribute to the final merit.
  • Personality Test/Interview: personality test opt candidates on the basis of candidate personality, aptitude and skills. After completing the last stage, candidates will get the job in the last. 

The preliminary examination is about 400 marks, the main examination is about 600 marks, and the interview is about 200 marks. Combining all marks in the last in the final list prepares rank for the candidates.
